Capital One just released this 2017 Work Environment Survey. They questioned 2,500 full-time office millennial professionals in Chicago, Dallas, New York City, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.. Clearly this data set is large enough to provide statistically significant info.
A whopping 86% stated that “companies cannot encourage innovation unless workplace design and environment is innovative,” believing that flexible workspaces are a key component for encouraging the best ideas (88%). Not surprisingly, 62% of those polled said their company’s current workplace environment fails to encourage innovation. The net net here is that most companies are not succeeding in providing their employees what they expect and also lowering their potential to generate innovative thinking during work hours.
